Terra Alpha is delighted to announce that Phil Swan has joined the firm as the Director of Business Development. In this role, he is responsible for setting the firm’s business development strategy and its implementation. Phil brings extensive experience in business development and client wealth management after having spent over 30 years in the industry. On joining Terra Alpha, Phil commented, “I couldn’t be more excited by this opportunity to have a role at Terra Alpha which authentically embodies my investment experience and my passion for the environment and conservation.”
Phil began his career as a Client Relations Manager at Capital Guardian Trust Company in 1984, soon after his commencement from Colorado College. During his twenty-seven year career at Capital, Phil rose into a leadership role within the firm’s Client Relations and Marketing team during a period of time that saw the firm’s institutional investor assets grow from $8 billion to over $250 billion. Following his time at Capital, Phil was Vice President of UBS Wealth Management in Los Angeles.
Phil is also an active volunteer with many organizations. He serves on several non-profit boards, including the Board of Trustees of Colorado College, The National Audubon Society, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Phil received a B.A. in History from Colorado College. He lives in Pasadena, California with his wife Kristan. His son is a freshman in college and his daughter a junior in high school.
